The Beyond the Fairway programme works to leave a positive social, economic and environmental legacy in the communities that host golf’s greatest team contest, working in close partnership with local stakeholders.
Environment
We want the Ryder Cup to become a respected showcase for sustainability that can deliver net positive impacts on the courses, countries and communities we visit.
Through our respected Green Drive initiative, the 2027 Ryder Cup will be the most sustainable ever staged, working with suppliers and other stakeholders to roll out a range of innovations that will reduce the event’s carbon footprint.
Community
Hosting a Ryder Cup provides a significant boost for host regions by generating surges in international travel, increases in footfall to local businesses, and enhanced infrastructure.
Beyond the Fairway works with local stakeholders to make sure that these benefits flow through to local people. This includes launching the 2027 Ryder Cup Impact & Legacy Fund, and launching the Community Day presented by Super Valu which is giving away 10,000 free practice day tickets for people across Ireland.
Participation
The Ryder Cup transcends golf and has become one of the world’s most anticipated sporting events.
Working with national federations, we utilise this high-profile platform to increase grassroots participation amongst underrepresented groups.
Inclusion
Golf has the potential to be the most inclusive sport in the world. The rules allow players from all backgrounds to compete against each other on an equal footing, regardless of age, gender, sexual orientation or physical ability.
We are creating high profile playing opportunities during Ryder Cup week - such as the Junior Ryder Cup and the G4D (Golf for the Disabled) Ryder Cup, that bring this inclusivity to life.
Education
Golf can change lives. It can transform your physical and mental health, teach you lifelong skills, and provide incredible career opportunities. The Beyond the Fairway is going into local schools and using the power of the Ryder Cup to improve literacy, mental resilience, and showcase the varied career opportunities that are available in live sport. This includes working with The Golf Foundation to bring the “Unleash Your Drive” campaign to Primary Schools in Ireland
